School Finance & Governance Advisory
Advisory support for public and Catholic school leaders making financial, operational, and governance decisions under enrollment pressure, funding rules, labor agreements, and public scrutiny.
This work is designed for superintendents, school business administrators, board members, heads of school, and senior leadership teams. It is not parent advocacy, instructional consulting, or general financial literacy. Engagements assume decision-making authority and accountability.
Public School Finance & Governance
My public-school work spans more than a decade of hands-on involvement in school finance at the community, district, and policy level. I have served as a pro bono analyst and strategic advisor in sustained efforts to increase school funding, working over multiple years with superintendents, boards of education, parent groups, and community coalitions.
This work included multi-year campaign design and financial analysis to support levy increases, development of clear fiscal narratives for the press and broader public, and translation of complex school funding mechanics into language that decision-makers could stand behind publicly. That experience informs my advisory work today, particularly where school finance decisions are politically visible and structurally constrained.
Catholic & Private School Operations
I provide advisory and operational support to Catholic and private schools strengthening their business offices and financial systems. This work is practical, systems-oriented, and grounded in day-to-day operational reality.
This work can align with my Parish Services offering where systems and structures are contained within a larger diocesan framework.
How it works
Engagements are collaborative by design. I do not replace school employees or assume day-to-day administrative responsibilities. Instead, I work alongside existing staff to provide structure, analysis, and decision support in areas where financial operations, governance, and leadership priorities intersect. I also advise leadership using defensible and sound data.
Work often begins with a focused orientation to the school’s financial structure including revenue timing, fixed commitments, and governance constraints. This is followed by ongoing support as leadership evaluates tradeoffs, prepares communications, and makes decisions they must explain and defend.
Examples of areas I support are:
Payroll administration support and analysis
Union contract analysis and compliance (if applicable)
Cash-flow monitoring and seasonality management
Revenue recognition and deferred revenue across fiscal years
Integration of tuition and payment portals
Custom QuickBooks configuration and leadership reporting
Board-ready financial reporting and decision-making support
Teaching, system setup, and problem-solving occur only within a defined paid advisory scope.
